can you fill high pressure air bottles for paintball by yourself?
If you have a high pressure air bottle, 3000 or 4500 psi, is it possible to refuel them yourself? If so what would you need?
You do NOT want to use CO2 in a compressed air bottle. CO2 is measured in weight, and will have approximately the same output pressure weather the bottle has 5 ounces, or 20 ounces in it.
A compressed air bottle uses... compressed air. To fill a compressed air bottle you would need a compressor. Most people think that they can use their dads shop compress to fill their paintball tanks. This is not the case. Those compressors used to power air tools typically only pump to 200-250 PSI. In order to fill your compressed air cylinder you would need a specifically made compressor. These compressors range in price from approximately $3,000-20,000+.
In order to fill your own compressed air bottles you would could go either of the following ways:
1) Buy a compressor, a storage tank such as a scuba bottle, and the adapters to connect the compressor to the storage tank, then the storage tank to your compressed air bottle.
2) Buy a scuba tank or other bulk tank and the adaptor to hook it up to your compressed air bottle. Keep in mind that if you have a 4500 psi tank, and your scuba tank is only a 3000 psi bottle, you will only be able to fill your bottle to 3000 psi. Also, you will start at 3000 psi in your scuba tank, but it will go down with each fill you do.
