Can you drink cod liver oil while breastfeeding?
obviously i'm going to ask the doctor, but i wanted to know if anyone has taken cod liver oil gel tablets? and if maybe their doctor said it was ok?
What's so dirty about drinking medicine???

I used to drink it when i was younger because they says it prevents colds?
You can, but you want to look for one that is guaranteed mercury free.
Also DO NOT exceed the recommended daily intake of vitamin A.

Vitamin A
Per Hale, vitamin A is a fat soluble vitamin that is secreted into human milk and primarily sequestered in high concentrations in the liver. Overdose of vitamin A is extremely dangerous and adults should never exceed 3000 µg per day. Use normal doses. DO NOT use maternal doses greater than 3000 µg per day. Maternal milk is rich in vitamin A. Infants do not generally require vitamin A supplementation.

Ideal breast milk contains high levels of both saturated fats and LCPs. This can be accomplished by consuming high levels of animal fats plus eggs, cod liver oil and oily fish throughout the lactation period. Saturated fats in mother's milk stimulate the immune system and work synergistically with LCPs to maintain them in the tissues where they belong.12 Levels of fat in a mother's milk will decrease with each baby unless she takes special care to consume high levels of nutrient-dense fats between pregnancies and during each lactation.13
