Natural/Dietary treatment for PCOS.?
I was diagnosed with PCOS today and the DR. told me that my only options for treatment were Clomid (if I wanted to get pregnant) or birth control (if I didn't want to get pregnant). Neither of these options really work for me. I was just wondering what you ladies out there with PCOS have done to help get the weight off and get your period back. My husband and I do want to have another child (we have a son who is 4 1/2) but have decided at this point fertility drugs are not something we want to do. So any suggestions for natural treatments or dietary changes would be greatly appreciated. Also, if anyone can recommend some good books on PCOS I would appreciate that too!
Get metformin (it is NOT a fertility drug) to help manage insulin resistance (underlying cause of PCOS) and/or go on a low-carb diet (e.g. South Beach diet). Lots of info on the internet on various low-carb diets, which has the same impact as metformin in helping manage insulin resistance. Both will help regulate your period and help ovulating and getting pregnant sooner.
