Would I make more selling my clothes at a thrift store or having a garage sale?
My friends and I are trying to make some money for our 2011 trip before we go off to college. Would we make more money if we sold our clothes to a thrift store like Cross Roads or would we be better off having a garage sale?
Most likely a thrift store. Places like Plato's Closet and local consignment shops are a great way to get money. Then again, the items need to be in good condition, pressed, and have no holes, stains, or snags. Many times if they aren't able to sell the clothes within a certain number of days you are given the option to pick the clothes up, or they have the right to donate them to a local homeless shelter.
Garage sales draw a different kind of crowd. Oftentimes you will end up selling your clothes for less than what you wanted for them because people are looking for a bargain.
I suggest try the consignment shop, and then if you don't sell all your clothes resort to a garage sale.
